English Heritage look after hundreds of England's historic properties. The English Heritage Charity is responsible for the care of the National Heritage Collection, under an operating licence from Historic England. Their aim is to create a hands on authentic and fun experience which will inspire the minds of all ages. In general the locations mark the entrance to the property but where there are no mapped roads nearby the nearest appropriate approach point is indicated. Some sites cover large areas and a suitable car park is plotted. Other car parks may be available. Where there is a parking restriction at the property then nearest available car parks may be given in addition. The basis for this file is the list of properties on The English Heritage web site and the English Heritage handbook. If you are a Historic Scotland member then you will get free admission. The telephone number for each property or site is provided where available. Check the English Heritage web site to ensure the property is open before setting off.
The POI files are suitable for installation on Tomtom, Garmin, Igo, Google Maps, Google Earth, Sygic, Volvo Sensus and Mercedes Comand® and can be converted to be used on other satnav systems. The Google Earth kml file also contains links to the relevant pages on the English Heritage web site. Just click on the icons within Google Earth to reveal the links.
